5) Tell us about some of the changes George and Sedena have experienced in their lives and how they have applied the Keys?

"Our personal and professional experience has been the ground from which these 25 keys have come, so every one of the keys have shaped our lives. However, here a few specific examples that come to mind.

Key One - Begin In The Beginning. When we look back on our lives, we realize that almost all of the events, circumstances and relationships that have given us the most difficulty have resulted from not following this basic step. This step advises us to know where we are going; why we want to go there; with whom we want to go; and what we will need to get there. In short, when we fail to plan, we are, in a strange way, planning to fail. We have found that this same lesson is also true for some of the world's great companies and for a number of the well-known people we have worked with."

Key Two - Celebrate Excellence is another very valuable key. "Our work with hundreds of top executives, celebrities and high performers as well as our personal experience demonstrates that when we apply the yardstick of excellence to each of our interactions with other people and in each of the things we do, our lives improve as does our probability of success. When we get lazy and lose our focus on excellence, our relationships, our work and our experience of life suffers. From world leaders to ordinary citizens, the message is clear - celebrate excellence and celebrate life."

Key Eleven - Eliminate Limiting Beliefs may be one of the most important steps any of us can take. "Again, our experience inside some of the best organizations in the world, with a number of famous people, as well as in our own lives, shows that limiting beliefs are the road blocks that get in the way of success, good health, profitability, high performance, healthy relationships and much more. It is essential to learn how to identify and eliminate self-defeating beliefs that often undercut our self-confidence, restrict our abundance and retard our ability to lead successful, joyful and productive lives."

Key Nineteen - Worship Spontaneity is another vital key. "Indeed, in a world that worships left-brain skills such as reason and logic and that insists on trying to define and analyze everything, spontaneity can be a invaluable ally. In our lives spontaneity gives us access to insight, intuition, and imagination. Spontaneity provides space for the unexpected, the unknown and the accidental. In our experience with a number of remarkable people and world-class organizations, spontaneity is the factor that most differentiates the successful from the also-rans."

6) What made George and Sedena become interested in coaching & consulting?

"The best answer is life - all of life's accumulated experiences of success and failure, love and loss, ease and struggle. This, and the desire to make a difference in the quality of our own lives and the lives of others. Even more specifically, we have both been students of a number of disciplines and subjects that relate directly to the fields of consulting and coaching. Life-long interests in psychology and philosophy and the study of subjects and practices ranging from classic business management to Asian and Native American Healing Arts, have contributed to our interest in the fields of individual and organizational change. Our work with hundreds of Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, national associations, the people who lead them and thousands of people who attend the public seminars we lead have resulted from this primary interest."

7) How has this work changed their lives?

"Each day we are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with some of the world's greatest organizations, some of the world's most gifted and accomplished people and, of course, a wide range of ordinary people like us who face life's many professional and personal challenges. This remarkable opportunity gives us a chance to learn, to collect this "collective wisdom" and pass it along to others, and above all, to apply this remarkable understanding and these practical tools to our own lives. So, it would be fair to say that there is no aspect of our lives that is not affected by this work. It is like being in a ongoing and remarkably relevant university program dedicated to providing lessons for successful living."

8) If George and Sedena had one piece of advice to give viewers/listeners about change, what would it be?

"Learn to view change in all of its varied forms, as a natural part of life. Treat change, even forms of change we sometimes view as negative or painful, as an ally, not an adversary. Look for the learning that is possible. Identify the new discoveries, the new adventures and above all, the opportunities and gifts that life offers us in the form of change. Above all, remember that change is inevitable and unavoidable. As a result, the only question each of us must answer is whether we will waste our energies trying to resist change, or whether we will take maximum advantage of our opportunities by welcoming change and learning how to work with it."

9) We understand the Cappennellis are working on another book-what is it about?

"Actually, we have several books in the works. Our follow-up book to Say Yes To Change is entitled, Who Knew - Essential Lessons About Life We Never Learned in School. This book has emerged from our study of the individual and organizational change process. It is our belief that no matter how technologically and scientifically sophisticated our world becomes, no matter how much information is available or how advanced our school and university system gets, the fact is most of us continue to be confronted and challenged every day by the same issues and obstacles that were faced by our parents and their parents before them. In fact, the more we look at these challenges, the more we realize that there are a number of things that we do not learn in school that can make a significant difference in our lives. That is what Who Knew! is all about. It's about taking a look at some of these essential lessons and learning how to finally master them."

In addition, George has just completed It's About Time, a powerful book on how we can learn to accumulate time more easily, spend it more wisely and finally, move outside its boundaries. Sedena is at work on a new edition of her Portable Self-Enhancement Program, a remarkable and very practical book on an original self-healing program that helps women to regain their balance and maintain optimum mental, emotional and spiritual health. Together George & Sedena are also at work on Lessons From Our Fathers & Mothers, a moving and uplifting collection of stories about how a number of men and women - the famous and the not-so-famous - learned to be the kind of men and women they are.
